Former Crystal Palace sporting director Iain Moody to join Nice as external advisor

Following the departure of sporting director Julien Fournier at OGC Nice, which was first reported by Nice-Matin, L’Équipe are reporting that former Crystal Palace and Cardiff sporting director Iain Moody is set to arrive as an external advisor for the remainder of the transfer window.

Moody will aid president Jean-Pierre Rivère over the summer window, but will not remain with the club after the closure of the transfer window on 1st September. Whilst Nice have been linked with multiple signings, they are yet to make their first transfer of this window.

Moody has run his own consultancy firm since 2014 when he was embroiled in a scandal that precipitated both his and Malky Mackay’s resignations at Cardiff. After racist, sexist and homophobic exchanges between the pair were made public, both left the Welsh club. Moody apologised for the messages and was given a warning from the football league.

According to L’Équipe, Nice will also call on other external directors this summer before filling the void created by Fournier’s surprise and imminent departure with a sporting director and a general manager.
