With a contract until 2025, Leroy Sané discussed his contract situation at Bayern Munich while on international duty with Germany. The 27-year-old appears in no hurry to sign an extension, as his focus remains on the season ahead.
“I haven’t given it any thought,” said Sané. “The club wants to have discussions but at the moment I want to concentrate on the season. Bayern will be my first point of contract, everything else will take care of itself.”
As previously reported, several elite European clubs are ready to battle for the signing of Sané, who has 16 goal contributions in 18 games across all competitions this season, as the German rejuvenates his career while playing alongside Harry Kane.
But with a contract until 2025, Sané’s Bayern Munich future remains uncertain. If an agreement isn’t reached, there’s a possibility that the player could depart in the summer of 2024 so that the Rekordmeister are able to collect a transfer fee, rather than risk losing Sané on a free transfer in 2025.
As reported by Christian Falk, Manchester City and Liverpool are the two leading teams that will go head-to-head in 2024 to sign Sané.
However, Sané’s full focus is on the season ahead and although Bayern are eager to open negotiations at the earliest possibility, expect this to be a drawn out saga with no agreement being reached in the foreseeable future.
