Jan Siewert will remain coach of Mainz for the time being, sporting director Martin Schmidt announced on Saturday.

After taking four points from two games, Jan Siewert will remain on the sidelines for the time being.
This was confirmed by Mainz sporting director Martin Schmidt after the 0-0 draw against Darmstadt on Saturday.
“The decision is, as we have already officially announced, that he will continue until further notice,” said Schmidt.
“The confidence in him is there at the moment, he deserves to be able to continue working, and for the time being he is, of course, our coach.
“Today’s game didn’t contradict the fact that we have to change something. Again, four points, he stabilized us, that was a good start for Jan Siewert.”
Siewert has been the interim head coach of Mainz since the resignation of Bo Svensson earlier this month.
