After climbing to second place last week, high-flying VfB Stuttgart will be hoping to extend their winning streak to five games when they host Wolfsburg on Saturday.

However, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness knows it won’t be easy against a Wolfsburg side, who sit seventh in the table with 12 points and have conceded just six goals.

One of the biggest challenges will be to stop Jonas Wind, who is third in the Bundesliga scoring charts, having netted seven of Wolfsburg’s nine goals this season.

“Wolfsburg are in good spirits. They have a good squad, have strengthened well and are well positioned up front. Wolfsburg are fit, ready to go and have good quality in their ranks,” Hoeness said at his pre-match press conference.

“We have to bring our game to the pitch, control the game, but also defend well, be alert and versatile.”

Hoeness has no fresh injury concerns, with Jeong, Nartey and Vagnoman the only absentees.

Wolfsburg

Coming off a spirited 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg will be eager to put a spanner in the works of an in-form Stuttgart side at the MHPArena.

Wolfsburg coach Niko Kovac is determined to end a two-game losing streak on the road and is targeting a win in Stuttgart.

“We know that there is euphoria in Stuttgart, and rightly so,” Kovac said at his pre-match press conference.

“But we have to play our game and then it won’t be easy for VfB. We’re an uncomfortable team. We will go there and want to win the game – that’s for sure.”

Wolfsburg will head into the game with the same squad as last week, with Jenz and Rogerio still sidelined.
