Bild reports that Bayern Munich have decided against signing former defender Jérôme Boateng on a short-term deal as defensive backup.
Boateng had been training with Bayern for the last week as the club negotiated with the 35-year-old over a potential contract as Bayern are currently suffering from a centre-back shortage due to an injury to Matthijs de Ligt.
Manager Thomas Tuchel was the main driving force when it came to trying to sign Boateng due to the lack of defensive reinforcements acquired during the summer transfer window.
However, Boateng’s ongoing court case for assaulting on one of his former partners has deterred Bayern from resigning the defender. de Ligt is also expected to return from injury after the international break and Dayot Upamecano has recovered quicker than expected following his injury.
Boateng’s last professional game of football where he played 90 minutes was over a year ago for his previous club Lyon.
