Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach needs defender Nico Elvedi to leave the club this summer if they want to try and sign Young Boy’s Fabian Rieder.
The Swiss club are currently demanding €11.5m for the 21-year-old but that fee is currently too high for Gladbach. die Fohlen want to offer €8m for Rieder but this move can only happen once Elvedi leaves the club.
Rieder has already rejected offers from the Premier League and has also recently received offers from LaLiga which he has begun to consider. This means if Elvedi’s move to the Premier League does not materialise soon, Gladbach could miss out on Rieder.
Gladbach continues to try to negotiate a price with Wolves for Elvedi. The fee currently stands at €9.5m but Gladbach wants more for the 26-year-old and they believe if that they wait a week longer the price of the defender will increase into double digits.
However, Gladbach cannot wait too long for Elvedi as his contract expires next summer meaning he could leave on a free similar to Marcus Thuram and Ramy Bensebaini this summer.
