According to Nice-Matin, OGC Nice’s managerial search has been narrowed down to three names: Régis Le Bris, Karel Geraerts and Marcelo Gallardo.
According to the local publication, Didier Digard’s successor will be named before the return for pre-season training, which begins on 3rd July, giving Les Aiglons just over a week to name their new manager.
Le Bris remains Nice’s number one option, and meetings with the Frenchman have multiplied in recent weeks. The Lorient manager has long since decided that he wants to leave Les Merlus this summer, a decision independent of Nice’s interest. The club’s president, Loïc Féry, had been looking to retain Le Bris, but the deteriorating relationship between the two men make a departure increasingly likely.
Geraerts, who recently left Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, could replace Le Bris at Lorient, whilst he is also a name that features on Nice’s three-man shortlist. Le Gym’s hierarchy have recently met Gallardo, who at one point looked set to join Mediterranean rivals Olympique de Marseille.
However, bringing Gallardo to the club would be an onerous task given his salary demands, as well as his desire to bring in his own backroom staff.
