VfL Bochum have confirmed their first signing for the 2023/24 season.

Lukas Daschner, who is out of contract with 2. Bundesliga outfit St. Pauli, will join the club on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a contract with Bochum until 2026.

“Lukas Daschner is a highly talented attacking player who has continuously developed over the past few years and impressively demonstrated his qualities last season,” said Marc Lettau, VfL Bochum’s technical director.

“With ‘Daschi’, we are adding an exciting player to our attack who will make our game even more flexible. He is a team player who brings everything to the table to succeed at VfL and in the Bundesliga”.

“First of all, I would like to thank VfL for the trust they have placed in me,” added Lukas Daschner.

“I am very happy to be able to play for Bochum. Of course, I’m also looking forward to the stadium, the fans and the Bundesliga. As a young player, it is my big goal to play in the Bundesliga one day. I can’t wait and want to contribute to a successful future for VfL.

With nine goals and seven assists, Daschner played a major role in FC St. Pauli’s strong season, which ended with a fifth-place finish.
