In an interview published in Holland’s Voetbal International Magazine, American striker Ricardo Pepi has stated that he will not return to his parent club of FC Augsburg.
Despite statements by FC Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter published in the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung just last week, 20-year-old American striker Ricardo Pepi has indicated in the strongest possible terms that he has no intention of returning to Germany’s Fuggerstadt.
The El Paso native explicitly stated in an interview with Dutch footballing magazine Voetbal International that a return to Augsburg “wasn’t an option.”
“I don’t want to go back to Augsburg,” the attacker is quoted as saying by the magazine, “I was promised and promised things that were not fulfilled. It’s just that simple.”
In terms of what said “promises” were, Pepi’s agent Jamie Garcia claims that Reuter twice failed to show up to meetings with his client; meetings Reuter himself arranged.
Garcia is also quoted in the article, unequivocally stating that “Ricardo Pepi is not going back to Augsburg.”
