Christopher Nkunku made his long-awaited comeback from a knee injury that kept him out for several months as he came on from the bench to set up a goal in RB Leipzig’s 3-0 win over Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena today.
Unsurprisingly, the Frenchman was pleased to be back on the pitch after some “very difficult” months on the sidelines.
“It is a really nice feeling. I’m very happy to be back on the pitch with my teammates and a 3-0 win is good for our self confidence,” Nkunku said in a post-match interview.
“It was a very difficult time for me. But that’s all in the past now and I’m concentrating on the team. I feel good, but I’m not in perfect physical condition, and I have to carry on working hard.”
Nkunku has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 24 games for Leipzig this season.
