Lionel Messi will almost certainly stay at PSG beyond this season, report La Parisien and confirm AS.
Last month it was communicated the Argentine’s return to Barcelona next season would remain unlikely due to the club’s financial constraints.
PSG’s and Messi’s representatives have been negotiating the player’s future in Paris, and it appears as though the 35-year-old will stay in the French capital beyond this season.
As confirmed by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the two parties are expected to finalise the details of his new contract in the new year:
“I have repeated it a thousand times. He is very happy in Paris. I see him happy. We will sit down to negotiate after the World Cup,” he commented.
According to AS, the length of Messi’s new deal at Le Parc de Princes is yet to be determined.
Messi is currently in Argentina following his country’s World Cup victory against France on Sunday.
