Manchester United will not be signing World Cup superstar Kylian Mbappe “anytime soon”, transfer expert Dean Jones has revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

Mbappe shone for France at the recent World Cup, netting eight goals in seven matches as Les Bleus finished as runners-up to eventual champions Argentina.

What’s the latest news involving Man Utd and Mbappe?

Gonzalo Montiel’s winning spot-kick ended a 36-year wait for Argentina, as Lionel Messi and co were crowned world champions for the third time in Qatar.

It wasn’t for a lack of effort on Mbappe’s part, as the Paris Saint-Germain forward scored all three of France’s goals during the 3-3 draw.

Becoming the first player since Geoff Hurst in 1966 to net a hat-trick in a World Cup final, the superstar striker was ultimately left heartbroken as Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni’s missed penalties handed Argentina the trophy.

With the World Cup now behind us, attention has naturally switched back to Mbappe’s future at PSG.

Having signed a controversial contract extension at the end of last season, the French international committed his future to PSG, in a three-year deal worth over £217 million (over £800,000 a week), as per reports.

It brought the curtain down on a long-running transfer saga between Mbappe and Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants having had bids in the region of €200 million rejected by PSG.

Real Madrid had expected to sign Mbappe on a free transfer last summer, only for the forward to u-turn on the decision.

However, despite the bumper contract, there continues to be doubts over Mbappe’s future in France, with The Mirror reporting Man United as a potential suitor.

What has Jones said about Manchester United and Kylian Mbappe?

Amid the speculation, Jones told GIVEMESPORT that a deal between United and PSG and Mbappe is unlikely to happen right now.

He said: “United are linked to Mbappe quite often. That deal isn’t going to happen, certainly not anytime soon.

“For United, turning Rahsford into a version of Mbappe could be helpful.”

Are Rahsford and Mbappe comparable players?

In a recent interview with the United club website, boss Erik ten Hag likened Marcus Rashford to Mbappe.

Spain demolished Costa Rica in their opening game. What was the score?

Speaking after Rashford’s impressive World Cup campaign, ten Hag claimed: “There is almost no better player in the world.”

Ten Hag later suggested that “Mbappe in this moment” is the only player comparable to Rashford in world football when it comes to an attacker playing on the shoulder of defences.

It comes as Rashford enters the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, but a report in the Daily Star revealed the Manchester-born forward could be rewarded with a new £400,000-a-week contract, which would make him the highest earner within the United ranks.

Jones recently told GMS that Rashford could be “every bit as important to United as Mbappe is to PSG“, and it looks as if ten Hag is prepared to put his faith in the England international going forward.
