First half goals from Robert Wagner and Ben Bobzien had the hosts firmly in control at the half. Vincent Vermeij added a second-half strike to make it 3-0 before Hendry Blank saw red for the visitors capping off a miserable evening for Fürth.
Dresden made a lively start at the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion, although Greuther Fürth initially looked dangerous going forward. The visitors came close to opening the scoring through Omar Sillah, whose effort drifted narrowly wide after a defensive mix-up, before Sacha Bansé tested Lennart Grill with a powerful effort from distance. Dynamo also threatened at the other end, with Patrice Čović missing a promising opportunity from inside the penalty area.
However, it was the hosts who eventually broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Niklas Hauptmann did well to turn away from two opponents before laying the ball into the path of Robert Wagner, whose first-time effort took a deflection off Hendry Blank and wrong-footed goalkeeper Florian Hellstern.
Dynamo doubled their advantage ten minutes later, with Ben Bobzien finding the net in similarly fortunate circumstances. After receiving the ball from Tobias Raschl, the forward cut inside before seeing his effort deflected by Blank and loop into the top corner, leaving Hellstern with little chance of making a save.
Fürth almost reduced the deficit before the interval, with Sillah narrowly missing a cross from Gian-Luca Itter before the latter saw two efforts blocked and deflected wide. Despite those opportunities, Thomas Stamm’s side headed into the break with a deserved two-goal advantage.
The hosts continued to apply pressure after the restart and effectively put the contest beyond doubt in the 55th minute. Bobzien turned provider this time, setting up Vincent Vermeij, who had the simple task of rolling the ball into an unguarded net to make it 3-0.
Fürth’s evening then went from bad to worse seven minutes later when Blank received his marching orders. Having already been booked in the opening minute, the defender brought down Bobzien as he threatened to break through on goal, receiving a second yellow card and leaving the visitors with ten men for the remainder of the contest.
Dresden looked increasingly comfortable against their numerical disadvantage, with Čović coming close to adding a fourth in the 73rd minute, only for his effort to be blocked by Krisztián Keresztes close to the goal line.
The hosts ultimately saw out a convincing 3-0 victory, recording another impressive home result following their recent wins over Magdeburg and in the cup against Schalke. The three points also provide a significant boost to Dresden’s hopes of climbing away from the bottom of the 2. Bundesliga table, while Fürth will be disappointed with an evening in which defensive misfortune and Blank’s dismissal contributed to a heavy defeat.
