Newcastle United are interested in signing Memphis Depay from Barcelona this coming January, report Mundo Deportivo.
The Dutchman was linked with a move away from the Blaugrana throughout the summer window and was close to joining Juventus last August. However, the Italian side were not willing to meet his salary demands, so they opted to sign Arkadiusz Milik instead.
While he is not a regular at Barcelona, Xavi has been giving him minutes throughout this season. So far he has made three appearances and scored one goal.
With the World Cup around the corner, the tournament will be an opportunity for Depay to showcase his talent and attract interest from high-profile clubs.
Even though it is believed that the 28-year-old would prefer to move to a club which plays in the Champions League, Newcastle United could prove to be an attractive option for him as the club are currently sitting 7th in the Premier League and are trying to break into the European places.
