Having defeated RC Strasbourg-Alsace (1-3) on matchday seven of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain saw Nuno Mendes (24) forced off through injury shortly before the end of the match. Maghnes Akliouche (24), meanwhile, finished the match limping after taking a heavy knock to his ankle.
Starting the match on the bench, Mendes came on for Lucas Digne (33) in the 53rd minute, before leaving the pitch in the 87th and heading straight for the changing rooms. Whilst no details regarding the nature of the Portuguese player’s injury have yet been disclosed, it appears he has suffered a muscle injury. This is a major blow with just three days to go before they face FC Barcelona in the Champions League.
Akliouche, meanwhile, who started against the Alsatian side, was on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle by Strasbourg centre-back Jeyland Mitchell (22). Photos published after the match show clear marks from studs on the former Monaco player’s ankle.
