Bayer Leverkusen are keen to secure Kofane’s long-term future at the club, but negotiations over a new deal have yet to make the desired progress, according to Sky Germany.

The Bundesliga side are looking to reward the forward with a significant salary increase, with a proposed annual package worth between €3 million and €4 million, including bonuses.

However, one potential stumbling block concerns the inclusion of an exit clause. Leverkusen reportedly do not want a release clause included in the proposed agreement, suggesting the club are keen to retain control over the forward’s future.

European giants monitoring Kofane

Leverkusen’s contract negotiations come amid reported interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to Sky Germany, Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid are among the sides keeping tabs on Kofane, who has attracted attention from across the continent.

The reported interest places Leverkusen in a position where they will be keen to resolve the situation and avoid uncertainty surrounding the forward’s long-term future.

Nevertheless, the interest from these clubs should not necessarily be interpreted as a sign that a transfer is imminent. While all three are reportedly monitoring Kofane, there is currently no indication that a move is close.

For now, Leverkusen’s priority will be to reach an agreement over an improved contract and convince Kofane to commit his future to the Bundesliga club.
