The Nerazzurri have underwent a set-back following the international break as Inter central midfielder Curtis Jones has suffered an injury in training, ruling him out of this weekend’s clash against Parma at the San Siro.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that medical tests have revealed that the 25-year-old central playmaker endured an abductor muscle strain during the mid-week training, which will force the Englishman to be held at bay for roughly 20 days, deeming him unavailable for the Milan derby against the Rossonerri at the end of the month.
A grave situation for the Beneamata as Chivu’s primary transfer target to boost the quality in midfield and whom has cost Inter over €30m to sign from Liverpool this summer is now unable to feature in a significant sequence of matches following the international break.
So far this season, Jones has made 5 appearances across all competitions, only starting 2 of those fixtures. Despite having a slower start to the life of a Nerazzurri than expected, Jones has proven to be pivotal in decisive moments through his explosiveness and provide composure in the midfield through his immaculate technical ability.
It remains to be seen if the injury of Jones can perhaps pave the way for Croatian rising star Petar Sucic to make a statement and prove that he is worthy to feature as a regular within the Romanian tactician’s starting lineup as question marks are surrounding his future following a lack of playing time so far this season.
