Liverpool and Chelsea are ready to rival Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jarell Quansah, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Arsenal attempted to sign Quansah last summer, but Leverkusen refused to sell him. The Gunners subsequently secured the services of Ezri Konsa, but are still monitoring Quansah.
Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in the England international, while Real Madrid have scouted him.
The Reds did not trigger their buy-back clause for Quansah last summer, but could still re-sign him for €70 million next year.
The Merseyside giants may not need a centre-back, but could be in the market for a right-back.
Quansah, who has impressed at right-back for Leverkusen and England, could be an attractive target given his links to Liverpool.
Chelsea could step up their interest in Quansah as they may need defensive reinforcements next summer.
The Blues have struggled defensively this season. They may need greater depth at centre-back, with manager Xabi Alonso preferring a three-man defence.
Quansah will aim to impress at Leverkusen to secure a move to one of Europe’s heavyweights.
The Liverpool academy graduate has been Leverkusen’s first-choice right-back this season, featuring in six games across all competitions.
Quansah also started two of England’s UEFA Nations League matches during the recent international break.
