Arsenal have now learned their fate in the Champions League knockout stages following Friday’s draw in Nyom, Switzerland
Arsenal will face Bayer Leverkusen for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Mikel Arteta’s side, who topped the group phase standings after winning all eight of their games, will travel to Germany first before hosting the Bundesliga outfit at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg.
The Premier League leaders could have played Atalanta but the Italians will instead face Bayern Munich in the last 16.
Arsenal have also discovered their full pathway to the final in Budapest and they will definitely fancy their chances of going the distance.
That’s because should they beat Leverkusen, they will face Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt or Sporting CP in the quarter-finals.

The draw could potentially hand striker Viktor Gyokeres the chance to return to Lisbon for the first time since completing his £63.5million summer transfer.
Beyond that, if Arsenal are to reach the semi-finals, they will face one of Barcelona, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid or Tottenham for a place in the final.
Because the Gunners topped the league phase table, they will play home ties in the second leg of the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.
There is no getting away from the fact Arsenal have landed a favourable draw, particularly given Bayern Munich will face either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the quarter-finals – if they are able to battle past Atalanta.
Holders PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool and Galatasaray are also on that side of the draw.
