John Fury Comments on Tyson Fury’s Concerning Appearance

The will-he, won’t-he saga of whether Tyson Fury’s fighting days will continue are finally over as it appears he’s hellbent on returning to the ring in 2026 for one fight, possibly two, including a long-awaited Battle of Britain against Anthony Joshua.

But the former world heavyweight boxing champion’s recent appearance in training confused fans online who pointed at the amount of weight he’d put on, as he looked a far cry from being in fighting fit shape. Now, his father and long-time coach ‘Gypsy’ John Fury has commented on the issue.

Tyson Fury

One of the greatest fighters in the modern era thanks to his bamboozling of Wladimir Klitschko and iconic wins over Deontay Wilder in their all-time great, three-fight rivalry, Fury has not fought since he lost back-to-back bouts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. Regardless, he is launching an apparent comeback.

His physical shape in a training video posted online earlier in the year confused fans, though.

His father John has clarified the situation, admitting that “he’s not in fantastic shape” and that suggestion to the otherwise is “bull-s***.”

Speaking to Goldstar Promotions, John said he’d be “more involved” in his son’s camp. “Father and son … Tyson’s going to win the heavyweight championship for the third time, and you can bank your f****** money on that!”

It is unclear who Fury will fight but he’s been linked with opponents as varied as Fabio Wardley, Daniel Dubois, and Brandon Moore, before a high-stakes, highly-lucrative fight with Joshua. Should he win these bouts then he’d warrant a shot at a world championship belt again — many of which, though, remain wrapped around Usyk’s waist.

“He will be in shape,” John said. “Have another look at him, because when I go out in the next week, there will be no more of this internet bullsh-t, every move on the internet. Head down, work, and get a body. Learn to move again. Learn to twist and be awkward. Herky jerky. Look like a fighter, man. Look like a warrior.”

“He’ll look like a f****** Spartan by April.”

“And he will be heavyweight champion of the world again,” John finished.
