La Liga giants Real Madrid were dealt a potential setback on the personnel front on Sunday evening.
This came owing to developments in the club’s showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.
Los Blancos were of course back in action a short time ago, locking horns with reigning champions Barca in the finale of the Spanish Super Cup.
When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of a 3-2 result, retaining their title in the process.
And yet, as alluded to above, the eventual outcome proved far from the only concern for Real Madrid.
As per a report from Diario AS:
‘Federico Valverde had to leave the field due to injury. While awaiting tests, alarm bells are ringing.’
Midfielder Valverde was for his part forced from the field of play in Jeddah midway through the 2nd-half. The Uruguayan managed to limp off unassisted, but fears remain surrounding a potential incoming absence for a key member of Xabi Alonso’s squad.
