Arsenal v West Ham Predicted Starting Lineups for Premier League Match Amid Gabriel Update

Arsenal and West Ham will go head-to-head in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium in the latest London derby.

Mikel Arteta’s side claimed a late win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend, thanks to Gabriel’s injury-time header, while they earned a dominant 2-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League in midweek too. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, on the other hand, battled to a 1-1 draw away at Everton in the manager’s first game in charge since replacing Graham Potter as boss.

Both managers have some decisions to make with their team heading into the game, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expects the sides to line up.

The Gunners have been able to welcome captain Martin Odegaard back in recent games, meaning their squad is almost at full-strength, barring long-term absentees.

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke are still absent with knee injuries, while Piero Hincapie is close to a return after a groin problem. Centre-back Gabriel went off as a precaution in midweek, but the expectation is that he will be fit enough to play.

Arteta Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“We have to wait and see until after training, but we weren’t too concerned about him [Gabriel].

“He [Hincapie] will be available after the international break, we’ve been trying to do everything as fast as possible but this came too fast and now we have the international break and hopefully after that he will have a couple of sessions with the team and ready to go.

“[Havertz, Madueke and Jesus] They’re still out, yeah.”

Arsenal Predicted XI

Bukayo Saka in action for Arsenal

  • Arsenal Predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Gyokeres.
  • Arsenal Predicted Substitutes: Kepa (GK), White (DEF), Mosquera (DEF), Lewis-Skelly (DEF), Merino (MID), Norgaard (MID), Nwaneri (FWD), Trossard (FWD), Eze (FWD).

After rotating the side in midweek, Arteta is likely to revert to a more established team for the game which should see Timber, Calafiori, Rice and Saka reinstated to the line up.

That means £575,000-a-week trio Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Ben White could find themselves on the bench.

West Ham Team News

James Ward-Prowse in action for West Ham United

Nuno has already made his mark on the Hammers squad by banishing James Ward-Prowse, telling him he has no future at the club and he is likely to move on in January.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is battling to return following an abdominal injury, while Tomas Soucek serves the final game of his three-game suspension. Young midfielder George Earthy is out for between 8-10 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Espirito Santo Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Espirito Santo shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“Today we worked with 22 players, and tomorrow is the day we make the decisions.

“Todibo trained, last week he didn’t train all the sessions, he was not involved, now he is involved. Let’s wait and see.

“The same [for Wan-Bissaka]. This week has been good; they are recovering.

“With the exception of George (Earthy), all the players are available. Unfortunately, he had an issue last week. I think George will be four to six weeks.

“We are trying to know the players as soon as possible, as best as we can, so we can make the proper solutions and decisions. Let’s see, we still have one more training session. We always have the mindset of what the team needs and what we want.”

West Ham Predicted XI

Jarrod Bowen in action for West Ham United

  • West Ham Predicted XI: Areola; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Diouf; Magassa, Fernandes; Bowen, Paqueta, Summerville; Fullkrug.
  • West Ham Predicted Substitutes: Hermansen (GK), Igor (DEF), Wan-Bissaka (DEF), Todibo (DEF), Potts (MID), Rodriguez (MID), Guilherme (FWD), Wilson (FWD), Marshall (FWD).

Nuno is likely to stick with the team that impressed against Everton as they head to north London, which means Alphonse Areola should keep his place in goal ahead of Mads Hermansen.

£195,000-a-week duo Jean-Clair Todibo and Guido Rodriguez should find themselves on the bench, while Fullkrug should get the nod ahead of Callum Wilson up front.
