Rangers and Genk will go head-to-head in the Europa League at Ibrox on Thursday night, with both sides hoping to kick off their European campaign with a win.
Russell Martin’s side have had a poor start to their season, but eased the pressure on the manager with a 2-0 win over Hibernian in the League Cup quarter-final this past weekend. Genk have also had a poor start to their season with four defeats in their opening eight games of the campaign, including a 2-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise this past weekend.
Both managers have some decisions to make with their starting lineups ahead of the game, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expect the sides to look at kick off.
Rangers Team News
Rangers are dealing with a couple of injuries in their squad with Dujon Sterling a long-term absentee owing to an achilles problem, while midfielder Lyall Cameron has been missing from recent games with a knock picked up against Celtic.
Martin will also be without defender Max Aarons for this game due to suspension after his red card in the Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge. Nedim Bajrami, Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell are also ineligible after not being included in the European squad.

Martin Drops Team News Update
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Martin shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.
“I want us to attack every game and be the team we want to be. By the end of this group phase, I expect us to be a lot better than we are now. I’m really looking forward to the challenge, and I’ll attack it with all I’ve got.
“Last week was a good week; it finished with a performance I was proud of in difficult circumstances. These players are capable of being a top team, and it has set us up to follow up and keep our standards high to win the game.
“I’m loving the process of working with the players and staff. Now we want to build as we have to win more games. Saturday has to be the start for us. The amount of growth that can come from difficult moments can be huge for everyone.
“The guys who have been here in big European moments can really help the squad. They have some really good players we respect, but it has to be about us as we build and play the game we want.”
Rangers Predicted XI
- Rangers Predicted XI: Butland; Tavernier, Souttar, Cornelius, Meghoma; Raskin, Diomande; Antman, Aasgaard, Gassama; Miovski.
- Rangers Predicted Substitutes: Wright (GK), Kelly (GK), Djiga (DEF), King (DEF), Fernandez (DEF), Rice (MID), Barron (MID), Rothwell (MID), Curtis (FWD), Danilo (FWD), Moore (FWD), Chermiti (FWD).
After a huge win at the weekend, Martin would be crazy to change things too much for this game, but there could be a chance for Oliver Antman to get the nod in attack ahead of young loanee Mikey Moore on the right.
That means £79,000-a-week trio Nasser Djiga, Danilo and Youssef Chermiti are likely to be on the bench at Ibrox.
Genk Team News
Genk will be coming into this game looking to bounce back from another defeat, but they will once again be without two players due to injury.
Attacking midfielder Daan Heymans has missed the last eight games with an ankle problem, while winger Yira Sor is dealing with a knock and has missed the last three games too. Konstantinos Karetsas is dealing with a back injury too, but there is hope he could return.
