Los Angeles FC continue their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup journey with a trip to Nashville to take on Espérance de Tunis on Friday.

LAFC lost 2-0 to Chelsea to open their tournament on Monday as they struggled to keep up with the Premier League giants.

“We want to be here, and we’ll recover and get past tonight and use the examples that we have to improve and move forward,” LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo said following the loss.

The Black and Gold are currently fifth in the MLS Western Conference, with 26 points through 16 games. LAFC were the last club to qualify for the tournament after beating Club America 2-1 in a one-game playoff in Los Angeles on May 31, thanks to an extra-time goal from star winger Denis Bouanga.

Espérance Tunis, meanwhile, fell 2-0 to Brazilian side Flamengo in Philadelphia on Monday. The Blood and Gold qualified for the Club World Cup after consistently advancing deep into the CAF Champions League, despite not winning it between 2021 and 2024.

Espérance are currently first in Tunisia’s Ligue 1, with 19 wins and only two losses through 30 games.

Espérance de Tunis Predicted Lineup vs LAFC

Benali Esperance Tunis

Winger Youcef Belaili is Espérance’s biggest threat going forward, with 15 goal involvements in the Tunisian top flight and CAF Champions League so far this season.

Brazilian attacking duo Yan Sasse and Rodrigo Rodrigues were kept quiet against Flamengo, but will surely be hungry to make a difference against LAFC.

Espérance de Tunis predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Bechir Ben Said (GK) – Mohamed Benali, Mohamed Tougai, Yassine Meriah, Amine Ben Hmida – Khalil Guenichi, Onuche Ogbelu – Yan Sasse, Chiheb Jebali, Youcef Belaili – Rodrigo Rodrigues.

LAFC Predicted Lineup vs Espérance de Tunis

Olivier Giroud LAFC

Cherundolo could make one big change in his starting 11 on Friday.

After starting Jeremy Ebobisse at striker against Chelsea, we might see Olivier Giroud get the nod instead on Friday as LAFC looks to spark the offense.

Otherwise, the rest of the squad should look identical to the one that took on the Blues, with Nathan Ordaz and Denis Bouanga providing the wing play.

Igor Jesus has been a revelation in midfield, and should start again alongside 2024 MLS Cup winner Mark Delgado and Timothy Tillman.

LAFC predicted lineup (4-3-3): Hugo Lloris (GK) – Sergi Palencia, Aaron Long, Eddie Segura, Ryan Hollingshead – Igor Jesus, Timothy Tillman, Mark Delgado – Denis Bouanga, Olivier Giroud, Nathan Ordaz.
