Hansa Rostock confirmed that they had gotten a “hat trick” of signings over the line late Tuesday.

In addition to finalizing a loan arrangement for FSV Mainz 05 fullback Anderson Lucoqui on Tuesday, second division side Hansa Rostock were also able to pick up disaffected Union Berlin center-halve Rick van Drongelen and one of Schalke’s existing loanee, Korean attacking midfielder Dong-gyeong Lee.
Lucoqui heads to the Ostseeküste on a season-long loan arrangement with the Rheinhessen. Van Drongelen will also be loaned out by die Eisernen for the second consecutive term. Lee – by far the biggest coup for the Hansa-Cogge – actually had his loan arrangement with Schalke terminated by parent club Ulsan Hyundai before he was re-loaned out to Hansa.
Lee would have been due back in Korea at the end of the calendar year. His new loan runs through the end of the 2022/23 campaign. Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder explained the premature termination as the best solution for all involved parties.
“Lee is a great player and professional who wishes to showcase himself for the national team,” Schröder noted in a statement, “For this reason, we have jointly come to the decision to end the loan – which was risk-free for us from the outset – during this transfer period.”
