Liverpool make fresh enquiry for €25m-rated Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki (21) was reportedly available for as little as €10m in the summer transfer window. Multiple clubs showed interest at that price, including Fulham, who he rejected and Paris Saint-Germain. Despite being initially receptive to PSG’s interest, his head was turned by Borussia Dortmund. The only problem is that the Bundesliga club never agreed a deal with Olympique Lyonnais.

As a result, he remained at Lyon, but with just one year left on his contract, he was excluded from the first-team set-up. That led to the France U21 international signing a new deal at OL, which runs until the summer of 2026. That new contract, coupled with a return to form, sees Cherki valued at around €25m by his club.

Cherki himself has a dream of one day playing for Real Madrid, according to L’Équipe, but a move to Los Blancos is unlikely to take form any time soon. Liverpool, who have previously shown interest, have once again enquired about the playmaker, whilst PSG could also return to the table with Luís Campos a big admirer, as per L’Équipe. However, Get French Football News understands that having already essentially rejected Les Parisiens in the summer, the reigning Ligue 1 champions have no interest in reigniting their interest.

Lyon are insistent that they want to keep Cherki until the end of the season, however, the club will have to sell this January and with Thiago Almada (23), a player very similar to the France youth international, arriving from partner club Botafogo this winter, a departure for Cherki would make sense.
