Atakan Karazor’s red card against Wolfsburg has been overturned by the DFB. This means he will not be suspended for this weekend’s match against Hoffenheim.

VfB Stuttgart were reduced to 10 men after 63 minutes of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg when Atakan Karazor was shown a second yellow card.

However, video replays showed that it was Karazor and not Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold who was fouled, and referee Sven Jablonski has since admitted that he made the wrong decision in showing the Stuttgart captain a second yellow card.

Karazor since lodged an appeal against the second booking, and the German Football Association has now overturned the dismissal and resulting suspension.

“In our opinion, the DFB’s sports tribunal made a prudent and correct decision,” said Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.

“We feel vindicated in our opinion that the referee made an obvious mistake. We are delighted that our captain will be able to play in the home game against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.”

Karazor’s first yellow card of the game will stand.
