According to Arab News, and also reported by RMC Sport former Olympique de Marseille manager Gennaro Gattuso is set to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun.
Gattuso has been a free agent since a brief stint with Les Olympiens which began in September 2023 and ended in February. The former Milan boss was replaced by veteran coach Jean-Louis Gasset, who led the club to the semi-finals of the Europa League and an eighth-place finish in Ligue 1.
The Italian failed to turn around the fortunes of the club, who hadn’t won a game two months into the calendar year. The only win of the club in that period was a 1-0 victory over fifth-tier US Thionville Lusitanos in the Coupe de France.
Gattuso began his coaching career at AC Milan, before spells at Napoli and Valencia. Al-Taawoun currently sit fourth in the Suadi Pro League, ahead of Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq in 6th.
