One member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona enjoyed a solid individual showing in the club’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona were of course back in action yesterday evening, when they made the trip to Madrid for a meeting with the aforementioned Rayo.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana saw their perfect start to the season brought to an end, owing to a disappointing 1-1 stalemate.
Hansi Flick’s troops were uncharacteristically lacklustre on the evening, lucky not to depart Vallecas with their first defeat of the term.
As alluded to above, though, whilst others struggled, one Barca star who stood tall was Frenkie de Jong.
Slotting back into the base of the Catalans’ midfield, the Dutchman did his best to make up for a disjointed team display.
As much has been highlighted by the statistics, with De Jong, as per Sofascore, having managed the following over the course of the 90 minutes:
- 58/64 accurate passes (91%)
- 1/1 Long balls
- 9/12 ground duels won (75%)
- 1/1 aerial duels won
- 5 interceptions
- 7 total tackles
