A transfer free-for-all like never before could be seen in 2025 as the contracts of 10 world class players will be at an end.
One of them, Lionel Messi, a World Cup winner and holder of the most Ballon d’Ors in history, could, theoretically, be up for grabs if he’s unable to secure what would be expected to be a final playing contract with Inter Miami.
Messi and Ronaldo available on free transfers next summer
His former nemesis, Cristiano Ronaldo, now plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr, doesn’t have long to negotiate a new deal before other teams could pitch to the record-breaking Portuguese ace.
Injury-prone Neymar, who once lit up La Liga alongside Messi and Ronaldo, sees his deal with Al Hilal come to an end.
It’s difficult to see that they would renew the Brazilian if he continues to miss more games than he plays.
Current Spanish top-flight ace and Real Madrid stalwart, Luka Modric, is unlikely to be handed another season with Los Blancos given his waning influence at the club, and the fact that he will be 40 at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Liverpool trio of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all believed not to have begun talks with the Reds at present, and for various reasons they’d all be brilliant signings for interested parties.
That would apply to Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne who it’s believed could take advantage of a potential switch to the Saudi Pro League in due course.
Bayern Munich pairing, Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies would be huge losses for the Bavarians, so they too need to get the players around the negotiating table quickly if they don’t want to see either wave goodbye at the conclusion of the current campaign.
