1 in, 3 out: Pep Guardiola provides Man City injury update ahead of Real Madrid

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has on Tuesday provided an insight into the personnel situation in his squad.

As much comes ahead of an absolutely crucial run of fixtures for City over the course of the coming week.

Amid their ongoing efforts to retain the club’s Premier League title, the Sky Blues will play host to high-flying Aston Villa on Wednesday, before making the trip to London to face Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Then, just three days later, attentions will turn back towards matters on the continent, in the first leg of the crunch Champions League quarter-final showdown between the English giants, and La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

On Tuesday, it will in turn no doubt be of interest to those of a Real persuasion to hear of Pep Guardiola providing an injury update on his ranks.

Man City have been hit by an untimely string of fitness blows over recent weeks, with the international break having only served in worsening the issues.

And, speaking in his pre-Aston Villa press conference this evening, the club’s headmaster confirmed that all of Ederson, Kyle Walker, and Nathan Aké have been ruled out for Wednesday night.

On a more encouraging note, though, Guardiola also noted that John Stones may be in line to make his return.
