Xabi Alonso has had an impressive start to the Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen, who remain unbeaten in 2023-24.

With the Spanish head coach in charge, the German side have equalled the second best start by a team in Bundesliga history.

Bayer Leverkusen beat Freiburg 2-1 on Sunday to move onto 25 points after nine games played.

Alonso’s side have a two-point lead over Bayern Munich, who won 8-0 on Saturday, with England striker Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick.
