Leverkusen wonderkid Florian Wirtz returned to team training for the first time since tearing his ACL back in March.
In what’s been a challenging start to the season for the company club, Leverkusen finally received some good news with Florian Wirtz’s return to training on Monday. The 19-year-old had been out since March with an ACL injury.
It’s still unlikely that Wirtz will feature for Leverkusen in league play before the World Cup begins. It remains to be seen whether Hansi Flick will give the midfielder a chance in Germany’s squad for Qatar.
Xabi Alonso previously said that, “We are looking forward to the moment when he is back. But, we need more progress with Florian. Because it was a lengthy injury we have to take the right steps at the right time.”
