An update on the status of Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup has on Sunday been provided.
The name of goalkeeper Courtois has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Belgian had been added to the lengthy absentee list at Real Madrid at present.
As per a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out on Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with sacroiliitis. His recovery will be monitored.’
Courtois, in turn, is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Ahead of the fast-approaching Club World Cup, though, what is the status of Real Madrid’s long-time no.1?
In a boost for all of a Blancos persuasion, club insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic has confirmed that Courtois is expected to be cleared for competitive action in time to play his part in the USA.
