Why Liverpool are targeting Noah Okafor in January

Liverpool are among a host of clubs interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg star Noah Okafor, according to Sky Germany

The 22-year-old has been earning rave reviews with his performances in Austria this season. He has already scored 10 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions at the Red Bull Arena, including strikes against Chelsea and AC Milan.

His current contract at the Austrian outfit is set to expire in 2024 but he is expected to depart Salzburg soon with several clubs interested.

Manchester City and Milan are said to be keen on the Switzerland international while Arsenal and Leeds United have also been linked with him.

Why Liverpool targeting Okafor

Jurgen Klopp’s side already have several attacking options, including Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. However, the German boss has had to deal with plenty of injuries this season.

Diaz picked up a knee injury against Arsenal last month and he is unlikely to be available until December. While Jota has mostly remained sidelined this season due to different fitness issues, with the Portuguese managing to make only two Premier League starts so far.

Okafor seems to be a very attractive option for the Merseyside club. He is very young and so there is a lot of room for improvement in his game.

The Swiss star mainly plays as a centre-forward but can also be used as a winger on either flank.

And as per Sky Germany, he could be available for around €35-40 million, which is affordable for Liverpool.

Okafor is an outstanding forward who has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League and the Reds should do everything to sign him in January.
