Lecce centre-back Tiago Gabriel has been at the heart of a lot of transfer interest with the January window approaching. The 20 year old has been one of the breakout stars of the Serie A season. He has been playing for Portugal U-21 in the international break and many clubs have reportedly sent scouts to watch him.
As per Gazzetta.it, West Ham are early leaders in this race. The London club who have struggled in defence terribly this season, have reportedly offered €18 million for the defender. However, Lecce have reportedly rejected the deal. It remains to be seen whether West Ham return with a fresh bid for the player.
The same article reports that the club are holding out for a fee of €25m. The trajectory that Gabriel is on, it won’t be very surprising if Lecce can get that value from within Italy itself. Inter, Juventus and Atalanta are all interested and could make a bid as early as January.
