West Ham have agreed personal terms with Gianluca Scamacca, according to a report from Sky Sports.
The Hammers have already agreed a £35.5 million deal with Sassuolo over a move for the 23-year-old. And now the Italian footballer is set to undergo his medical in London on Tuesday.
It is said that Scamacca will pen a five-year contract, with the Irons having the option to extend it by another year.
Great news
West Ham have long been trying to sign a new striker to reduce the burden of Michail Antonio.
It was expected that they would bring in a new centre-forward in January last season but they failed to add any new player to the huge disappointment of fans.
The Hammers persisted with Antonio as their sole central striking option and that ultimately cost them.
The Jamaican had to play almost every game last campaign due to lack of options. He made 47 appearances across all competitions, bagging 13 goals and 11 assists (stats from Transfermarkt).
Their lack of strength in depth ultimately cost them a place in the top-four as they finished seventh in the table.
However, it is now great news for the Irons fans that they are finally close to completing a move for Gianluca Scamacca who is a lethal striker and has proved his skills in the Serie A.
Last season, the 23-year-old struck 16 goals in 36 appearances in the Italian top-flight, averaging 2.2 shots and 0.7 key passes per game. He also has seven caps for Italy.
He is powerfully built and is highly rated for his finishing ability. The Hammers will be confident that he can score plenty of goals in the Premier League.
