With one year left on his contract, Mitchell Weiser has cast doubt on his future at Werder Bremen.
A few months ago, it was reported that Werder Bremen were close to agreeing a new contract with Mitchell Weiser.
However, no agreement has yet been reached, and the right-back, who is under contract until 2024, is now openly admitting that he’s considering a move away.
“At the moment we are not talking at all. I have also not been thinking about it that much lately,” Weiser is quoted as saying by Deichstube.
Asked if he’s considering a move to a more ambitious club than Werder, Weiser replied:
“Yes, to be honest, that’s the case.
“I’m at an age where I don’t have many opportunities to try something new, and of course that’s always in the back of my mind,” he added.
Werder head of licensing Clemens Fritz recently insisted to Bild that the club want to reopen talks with Weiser.
“We will soon have further exchanges and intensify the talks. It is clear that we want to continue with ‘Mitch’,” Fritz said.
