According to a report by L’Équipe, Vincent Labrune has stated his intention to reduce his salary as president of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) following his re-election to the position earlier today.
Labrune revealed as he was being sworn in that he would cut his €1.2 million per annum salary. However, he has not revealed any details on how much his salary will be reduced. However, one of his opponents during the election, Cyril Linette, had promised to cut the president’s wage by 50%.
Labrune under criticism ahead of re-election campaign
Despite winning 85% of the vote, Labrune has come under criticism during the past few months over his handling of the broadcasting rights negotiations. The LFP only agreed on a domestic deal a few weeks ahead of the new campaign, while some international agreements were finalised after the season had begun, such as with the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
