Tom Aspinall hasn’t stepped foot inside a UFC Octagon for almost a year, since making his first defence of the interim UFC heavyweight title at UFC 304 last summer, as execs Dana White and Hunter Campbell worked overtime to try and book the biggest bout it could, involving the British slugger, against all-time MMA Jon Jones.
After Jones’s protracted retirement on the 21st of June, the UFC elevated Aspinall to undisputed status. Since then, White and Campbell have sought to find a strong opponent for the maiden defense of his UFC heavyweight championship.
White announced all the details of Aspinall’s next fight, together with other match-ups, in a recent edition of his Instagram Live.

Tom Aspinall Will Fight a new Opponent at UFC 321
Aspinall heads to Abu Dhabi on the 25th of October
Although top heavyweight contenders such as Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almedia put together a case to fight Aspinall, it always seemed obvious he’d fight Ciryl Gane sooner rather than later. Aspinall vs Gane is a fresh match-up — as neither fighter has competed against one another.
The fight takes place on the 25th of October in Abu Dhabi at UFC 321. This is the date Aspinall has been targeting ever since he was crowned undisputed champion, as the pay-per-view starts at a reasonable time for fans from Britain.
Although Aspinall will likely be a sizeable favourite to defeat the Frenchman, ‘Bon Gamin’ could cause problems, as he is one of the most skilled strikers in the UFC, and, like Aspinall, Gane is extremely fast and agile for a man of his size.

Dana White Also Announced Other Fights for UFC 320
UFC 320 will feature two title fights and a light heavyweight banger
White also announced other blockbuster bouts for UFC 320, which takes place 21 days prior.
In the main event, Alex Pereira gets his rematch against reigning light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev. The Russian dominated ‘Poatan’ at UFC 313, but after the run Pereira went on as champion and how frequently he fought, a rematch always seemed destined to happen.
Ankalaev vs Pereira is not the only title fight which will be featured on UFC 320, as one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in MMA right now, reigning UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, makes the third defence of his title against Cory Sandhagen. The incredible fights on UFC 320 don’t stop there, as a guaranteed banger in the UFC’s light heavyweight division between Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr has also been confirmed. Not only is Prochazka vs Rountree Jr stylistically a phenomenal fight, but it will also provide security for the main event, just in case one of Ankalaev or Pereira withdraws.
UFC 320 takes place on the 4th of October at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
