It’s time! UFC 314 is finally here as the landscape at the top of the UFC’s featherweight division looks set to become much clearer, with Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes fighting for the vacant title, in what could be seen as a potential passing-of-the-torch between the experienced former ruler, and the rising star. Can Volkanovski reclaim the crown? Or will Lopes usher in a new era?
There’s also great intrigue in the co-main event as the experienced American fighter Michael Chandler returns to the Octagon against the potential superstar lightweight Paddy Pimblett. The former champion Conor McGregor said earlier this week that he’s keeping a close eye on how this fight goes down, and even placed a $500,000 bet that Chandler would finish Pimblett, which could cash him $2.5 million.
Elsewhere on the card, Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire makes his long-awaited UFC debut against Yair Rodriguez at featherweight, Bryce Mitchell fights Jean Silva, also at featherweight, and Nikita Krylov takes on Dominick Reyes at light heavyweight.

Round two — Jean Silva reverses a Bryce Mitchell takedown again in the second, turns him, thuds him with an elbow to the back while his own back is on the fence … and he’s got him down, with a choke attempt! It might be all over! That’s it! Silva gets a sick, second-round submission! For good measure, Silva even appeared to taunt him with super-necessary barking at the end.
