Tottenham Hotspur are close to an agreement with Crystal Palace for the signing of Eberechi Eze, working on the final details while the Eagles hunt for a replacement, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.
Tottenham are in the market for a new attacking midfielder, and have been throughout the summer transfer window. Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was a target for the north London club, with a deal looking close at one point, but the England international eventually signed a contract extension.
Tottenham’s need for an attacking midfielder has intensified in recent weeks, after James Maddison suffered a serious knee injury, which could keep him out for the majority of the season. Eze has emerged as a target for Spurs. GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs confirmed that the Palace midfielder did have a release clause in his contract, but that expired before the 2025/2026 Premier League campaign began.
Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Close to Eze Agreement
Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that an agreement between Tottenham and Crystal Palace for Eze is now, with talks continuing to get a deal over the line. Tottenham are working on the final details, while Palace are looking to bring in a replacement for the England international.
“It’s close, conversations continue to get it done. The agreement is very close, working on details and replacement for Palace.”
Eze, described as ‘unbelievable’ by Palace manager Oliver Glasner, has played a crucial role for the Eagles over the last few years. Palace won’t want to lose Eze, but GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs has confirmed that the English attacking midfielder has informed the Eagles that he wants to join Tottenham this summer.
If Tottenham can get a deal over the line for Eze, which is now looking increasingly likely, it would be a marquee addition for the north London club. Losing Maddison was a big blow for Thomas Frank, but replacing him with a player of the calibre of Eze is an impressive move from Spurs.
