Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank would love to see Harry Kane’s return to Spurs, but does not expect the striker to leave Bayern Munich any time soon.
Kane is Tottenham’s record scorer with 280 goals in all competitions, but he left the club to join Bayern in 2023 for a fee worth around €110 million.
However, it has emerged the Lilywhites have a buy-back option on the England international, sparking speculation he could return to the North London club.
Ahead of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup fixture with Doncaster Rovers, Frank said Kane would be ‘more than welcome’ to return to Spurs, but doesn’t expect a transfer will happen.
The Danish boss said (per The Guardian): “He is an unbelievable player who did fantastic for Spurs and is doing fantastic for Bayern. Top player. I think there’s a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back.
“Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well. He was top scorer last year, won the championship and he’s doing fantastic now.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking. Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to travel, I like to explore things as well. He’s been here for many years so why not enjoy the time at Bayern a little bit more? But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome!”
Kane was just 48 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League record when he left Tottenham in 2023.
Michael Owen criticised the forward’s decision on a podcast earlier this month, but he hit back saying he is happy in Germany and improving as a player.
Kane has been a top performer for Bayern over the last two years, netting 98 times in 103 appearances.
He failed to lift the Bundesliga title in his debut campaign, despite recording 36 goals in 32 top-flight games.
However, the 32-year-old achieved that feat last season as he powered his team to the league title with 36 direct goal contributions.
Kane has had an impressive start to the 2025-26 campaign, scoring 13 goals in seven games, including a hat-trick against Hoffenheim last Saturday.
