Lewis Hamilton has had many great rivals in Formula 1, from Fernando Alonso at McLaren to the more recent feud with Max Verstappen, but according to a current F1 driver, there is one rival that Hamilton ‘can’t stand.’
With over 300 races, 105 wins, and seven Drivers’ Championships, Lewis Hamilton was always going to have rivals fighting him for first place. The 2025 season is Hamilton’s 19th in Formula One, and during that time he has had some historic battles with the likes of Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso, but it’s none of them who he apparently dislikes.
Isack Hadjar joined Formula One this year, competing for the Racing Bulls. He idolised Hamilton growing up, and since joining the paddock, the two have become pretty close.
Isack Hadjar Reveals Lewis Hamilton’s Dislike For F1 Driver
The Frenchman currently sits an impressive ninth in the Drivers’ Championship, just three places behind his idol, and he revealed on the Clique podcast the former driver that Hamilton isn’t a fan of.
When asked about friends that have turned into enemies during their time in the paddock, Hadjar goes straight to Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. He said: “They were best friends, and now they can’t stand each other anymore. It’s a shame.”
Hamilton and Rosberg were both involved in the “Silver War”, and the rivalry was most prominent when the two were teammates between 2013 and 2016. They competed for four titles and to this day, Rosberg is the only teammate to beat Hamilton to a Drivers’ Championship, winning the 2016 title before retiring.
It is the most infamous case of friends-turned-enemies in Formula One history, and it seems as though that relationship has not been repaired since.
Hadjar also suggested that while Hamilton had more talent than his Mercedes rival, Rosberg made up for it with the hours that he put in.
“There are guys who could make a career because they spend hours with engineers. I know that Rosberg doesn’t have Hamilton’s talent, he doesn’t have his speed, and yet he competed with him because he did extra hours.”
Over the four seasons that they were teammates, they won 54 out of the 78 races and dominated the sport. Between them, they won three out of four championships between 2013 and 2016, with Vettel winning the other one. They were childhood friends before Formula One, but it seems as though their relationship will not be repaired any time soon.
