Eintracht Frankfurt will aim to build on their impressive 5-1 victory over Galatasaray in their Champions League opener when they visit Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
Dino Toppmöller’s side surprisingly fell 4-3 to Union Berlin following their European triumph, but they bounced back at the weekend with a 6-4 demolition of Borussia Mönchengladbach, at one point leading 6-0.
Now, they face Champions League veterans Atletico Madrid, who will enter the game brimming with confidence after a sensational 5-2 win over city rivals Real Madrid.
Unlike Frankfurt, Atletico came away empty-handed from their opening Champions League game, falling 3-2 to Liverpool despite coming back from 0-2 to level at 2-2.
Both teams will be looking to carry their form into Tuesday’s clash in what should be an intriguing and entertaining encounter.
Team news and predicted lineups:
Atletico Madrid will be without Thiago Almada (muscle), Johnny Cardoso (ankle), and Jose Giménez (hamstring).
Eintracht Frankfurt appear to have just one absentee, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, who is sidelined with a muscular issue.
