According to Sport1, VfB Stuttgart are interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nübel on a permanent basis when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

In an interview with Sport1 on Sunday, Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth revealed just how far the Swabians had gone in the summer to land the goalkeeper on loan from Bayern.

“We were very persistent, almost insistent. Our goalkeeper coach called him several times a day,” Wohlgemuth revealed.

“We knew right away that he was a good fit for us. We really wanted to invest in the position. He gives the players in front of him a great deal of security.

“Whether he’ll be with us for the next six or seven years remains to be seen.”

Stuttgart don’t have a purchase option on the 27-year-old and would therefore have to agree a fee with Bayern.
