Since his disappointing loan stint with FC Augsburg ended, Portuguese central defender Renato Veiga’s career has taken off. The 21-year-old has increased his estimated market worth ten-fold via solid performances for FC Basel, Chelsea FC, and the Portuguese national team.
According to Portuguese sporting newspaper “Record”, VfB Stuttgart are taking an active interest in bringing Veiga back to German football. The Swabians hope to bolster their central defensive corps in the current January transfer window.
A €10 million asking price remains well within the club’s budgetary range, but it remains questionable as to whether the player can be persuaded to return to a league in which he struggled. Moreover, Serie A sides Juventus FC and SSC Napoli have reportedly also expressed interest.
