Spain get ready for the 2023 Women’s World Cup

The 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand gets underway in just two days, and Relevo have produced a report on the tournament.

It will be a historic event that will introduce a new format. It is the first time that the Women’s World Cup is being held in two different countries belonging to two confederations, Asia and Oceania. The new format also includes 32 nations, and a total of 64 matches will be played in ten stadiums, spread over nine cities.

The World Cup will begin on Thursday 20 July, and the inaugural match between Norway and New Zealand will be played at Eden Park in Auckland (New Zealand). The stadium has a capacity of 48,276 people, and will also host the first match of the round of 16.

Spain face Costa Rica in opener

Spain will play their first group game on 21 July against Costa Rica. They will play their other group stage games on 26 July to face Zambia, before closing the group stage against Japan on 31 July.

A day after Spain’s opener, the USA will debut against Vietnam. The current world champions could achieve a historic milestone that no other national team – male or female – has done yet, by winning three consecutive World Championships.

England will play their opener against Haiti. The European champions, one of the favourites, will be trying to get their hands on their first world title.
