Seven Liverpool Players Who Could Leave in Major Summer Exodus

The Athletic reporter David Ornstein has named seven potential players who could depart Liverpool in the summer – with Arne Slot likely to have a busy few months on his hands despite winning the Premier League title.

The Reds have been poor in recent weeks after confirming the trophy following a five-year wait to hoist it again, suffering losses against Chelsea and Brighton alongside letting a two-goal lead slip at home to Arsenal. But with nothing else to play for, their wavering form matters for nothing – and now attention must turn to the summer transfer window if they are to claim more trophies in the coming campaign.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has already confirmed that he will be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract, but that may not stop some form of an exodus in the red half of Merseyside this time around – with Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Darwin Nunez all being named as potential departures from the title-winning side.

Ornstein has named the Uruguayan striker alongside squad players such as Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott and Caoimhin Kelleher as stars who could potentially be on the move – but he did raise concerns over their bigger-name stars as their squad could be ripped up in the coming months. Ornstein told NBC Sports on Monday evening:

“There could be other departures from Anfield this summer.

“The likes of Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott and possibly Caoimhin Kelleher as well in goal.

“And there’s some uncertainly around the likes of Luis Diaz, of Ibrahima Konate going into the last 12 months of his contract, and Kostas Tsimikas.”

Diaz and Konate in particular have played major roles in Liverpool’s title-winning crusade. Diaz has registered an impressive 13 goals and seven assists, being slightly overshadowed by Mohamed Salah in terms of output, but having a threat on the left-hand side has been equally important for Slot.

Konate, meanwhile, has formed the second-meanest defence in the league with just 40 goals conceded all season, and having been linked with Real Madrid to follow in Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps next summer, the Frenchman could be sold this summer in order to garner a transfer fee for a replacement.

Trent Alexander-Arnold cuts lonely figure at full-time after Brighton defeat Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold cut a lonely figure at full-time as Liverpool’s Premier League title party continued despite falling to defeat at Brighton. At the full-time whistle, the Liverpool supporters were in a celebratory mood as they danced to the classic Freed from Desire, with players gathering in front of them for a round of applause. However, Alexander-Arnold was not in the mood to celebrate as the England international stood with his hands on his hips before glumly heading back towards the dressing room after being an unused substitute. The 26-year-old is expected to join Spanish giants Real Madrid following his departure from Anfield once his contract expires at the end of the season.
