Serie A club ‘will not touch’ Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to move to Napoli in January, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 37-year-old was linked to the Serie A club in the summer, but Romano says they are happy with their current squad.

What is the latest news involving Ronaldo?

Ronaldo’s second spell at United looks all but over following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

As per The Telegraph, the Manchester club are now considering terminating his contract so that he can depart Old Trafford in January.

During the summer, FootballTransfers claimed that Napoli were one side who registered an interest in signing Ronaldo after he expressed his desire to leave United.

However, it does not look like the Italian side will return for the Portugal international.

January Transfer Window 2023: When Does It Begin, Rumours and Everything You Need To Know

What has Romano said about Ronaldo and Napoli?

Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that Napoli have no plans to sign Ronaldo or any other player in the January transfer window.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “We had rumours about Napoli, but they are really happy with the squad they have.

“They’re doing great in the Champions League, great in Serie A and so what I’m told is that Napoli don’t want to touch any single player – no additions and no sales in January.”

What next for Ronaldo?

While a move to Napoli seems to be off the table, a transfer to another big European club still appears to be a possibility.

According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes have held talks with Bayern Munich over a switch to the Allianz Arena.

The outlet states that the German giants retain an interest in the forward after considering him in the summer.

Like Bayern, Chelsea also looked at Ronaldo in the last transfer window, and it appears that Mendes sees them as a viable destination for his client.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs reported on Monday that the super agent will once again offer the Blues the chance to sign Ronaldo after doing the same thing during the summer.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will bite this time, but one thing that is for sure is Ronaldo does not have a future at Old Trafford.

He does not have a good relationship with manager Erik ten Hag, telling Morgan that he does not respect the Dutchman, while his contract is up next summer. Ultimately, it would be a shock if Ronaldo was still a United player after 2023.
